Louise Lessel
Louise Lessél is a Danish artist based in New York whose work investigates light, spatial perception, and computational systems. Moving between sculptural installation and performance, she creates environments in which light becomes structure, atmosphere, and a material shaped by embodied presence.
Over the past decade, Lessél has developed large-scale works using motion tracking, real-time simulation, projection, and responsive lighting. Her projects have been presented internationally at festivals and institutions including SXSW and CERN.
Her current practice examines perceptual instability, non-human communication systems, and performer-driven XR environments in which movement directly restructures light, projection, sound, and space. She frequently collaborates with artists, musicians, and dancers on ambitious live and installation-based works.
Lessél is co-founder of Uberørt, a transatlantic artist-led studio operating between New York and Copenhagen, and an adjunct professor at New York University, where she teaches Architectural Projection Mapping. Her research frames tracking as compositional instrument rather than technical utility.
