Katherine Helen Fisher

Katherine Helen Fisher is a director and choreographer working across dance, expanded cinema, and computational media. Across stage and screen, she creates participatory works that treat the body as an interface, bringing lens-based media into conversation with real-time generative systems. A former member of the Lucinda Childs Dance Company, she has also performed with the Merce Cunningham Trust and in Philip Glass’s Einstein on the Beach. Her work has been presented by Judson Church, REDCAT, Human Resources, Barnard Movement Lab, Brown Arts Institute, Jacob’s Pillow, and PBS. Fisher is co-founder of Safety Third and Hyperreal Labs, curator of Dancing the Algorithm at Jacob’s Pillow, and was a Visiting Assistant Arts Professor at NYU Tisch from 2023–26, during which time she and her collaborators received the 2024 Google Artists + Machine Intelligence Faculty Research Award.
