MEMOS

MEMOS Natalia Manta & Aias Kokkalis

MEMOS are entities that dwell within the cracks of history—those overlooked, fragile, and forgotten presences that cannot coexist beside monumental figures like Julius Caesar or Christopher Columbus. They stand for the erased fragments of truth buried beneath catastrophic events such as the eruption of Vesuvius or the destruction of Pompeii. Just as the faint pigments and moss are removed from ancient statues to expose an illusion of pure whiteness, history too is polished and sanitized. Through the MEMOS, the artists seek to reclaim what has been erased, revealing the living ecosystems, hidden voices, and imperfect realities that persist beneath human mythmaking.
