Renaise Kim
Renaise Kim is a creative director, designer, and organizer based in New York. She holds a BFA in Art and Technology Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and serves as Director of Artifice NYC, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit for experimental cultural production and public creative infrastructure. At Artifice, Renaise leads Chapters and nodes, program formats for staging narrative, process, research, and public presentation, and developed the organization’s WHITEBOX / BLACKBOX framework for moving between the lab and the stage. Her practice builds public resources for experimental work across web interfaces, exhibitions, site-specific programs, and archives. Through web-to-world prototyping, Renaise brings early-stage work into public view while documenting the research and decisions that shape it. Renaise applies science fiction as a method for examining socio-technical systems across past, present, and future, and is currently prototyping the Artifact Index, a relational, multimodal dataset that captures the discovery-to-documentation process.
