Mattia Casalegno

 

Mattia Casalegno is an acclaimed new media artist and educator whose work spans time-based video, performances, immersive installations, and Mixed Reality. His artistic practice draws inspiration from fields such as anthropology, ecology, biology, neurosciences, and informatics. Casalegno's focus lies in exploring the complex relations and tensions that exist between nature, society, and technology.

His work has achieved significant international recognition, having been exhibited in over 100 venues and institutions worldwide such as Ars Electronica festival, SIGGRAPH Asia, ISEA, Untitled Art Fair, and the Superblue Museum.

Casalegno has received numerous accolades, including a nomination for the New Technological Art Awards, an artist residency at Eyebeam, as well as fellowships at NEW INC and the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts. In 2018, he was honored with a Lumen Prize Award. He currently teaches in the Digital Arts department at Pratt Institute and at the Computation, technology and Culture department at RISD.
