Avneesh and Sumanth's work intersects music composition, generative art, and live performance. With common interests in blending tool building and research with artistic practice, they leverage their engineering backgrounds to build bespoke interfaces for creative expression. Emerging from New York’s experimental music and live coding scenes, they value improvisation and live performance and use the computer as an instrument.
A musician at heart, Avneesh’s practice focuses on building “visual instruments” that can be used for writing live improvised audiovisual compositions in tandem with music. He leverages his interface design research background to build new tools for creating and distributing audiovisual art. Sumanth is an engineer, visual artist, writer, and musician. Drawing from pop culture and experimental new media, his work centers around digitizing human imperfections and playfulness in art and has relentlessly pursued noise and degradation as an aesthetic.
