James George
James George is an Emmy Award–winning artist, entrepreneur, and computer scientist who pioneers volumetric video experiences and software tools. As CEO and Co-Founder of Scatter, he led development of Depthkit — the original and most widely used volumetric video capture software. His interactive media credits include Executive Producer for Zero Days VR (winner of the first News & Documentary Emmy for a 6DOF VR experience, 2018) and The Changing Same VR (Emmy-nominated, 2022), as well as co-directing CLOUDS, the first VR documentary using volumetric video, which premiered at Sundance in 2014 and was exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art. Through his 2016 essay A New Dimension in Filmmaking, he coined the term “volumetric filmmaking,” now embraced globally by artists, festivals, and major technology companies. He currently serves as Principal Scientist, Architect at Adobe, leading real time video engine development for Premiere.
