Director of Culture of the Onassis Foundation, Afroditi Panagiotakou is responsible for the cultural strategic planning and programming of the Foundation, as well as Onassis Stegi culture hub in Athens, Onassis USA, and Onassis LA. During her ten years at the Foundation, Afroditi has developed programs that include major commissioning and presentation projects of a cross-disciplinary nature, spanning contemporary time-based visual and performing arts, expanded cinema, new media art, as well as international and national residency, scholarship, VR/XR accelerator, and educational programs. Onassis Culture aims to address a global audience by being truly local, placing emphasis on initiatives that approach the city as a site, reflecting on the evolution of communities, and seeking ways in which artistic expression can reconsider its position in relation to current political and social issues.

Afroditi has studied Musicology at the University of Athens and holds postgraduate degrees in Aesthetics as well as Cultural Policy and Management, both from City University, London. She has worked in cultural institutions in Greece and abroad: National Opera, Ministry of Culture, Royal Opera House, Cheek by Jowl, and sits on various committees related to the development of cultural policy in the public and private sectors.
